Get it Pop'n

This term we have been practicing and learning how to play Pop tennis at Riverside Sports Club.
Its just like tennis but with a smaller bat and we play on a smaller court. So far we have been practicing hitting the ball back and forth. It is so much fun and we look forward to it every Tuesday and Friday.

Highwic House Garden

William has visited Highwic House to see if he would like helping the gardening team. This is something he might be able to do when he leaves Sommerville next year.

Pop Tennis

                                                                     

This term we are learning how to play Pop Tennis. We go down to Riverside Sports Club where coach Martin is teaching us the skills we need to play. Even through it is only week two we have improved our hand eye co-ordination skills, developed an understanding of the rules and most importantly had fun in the process.

Riverside Sports Club Futsal

This term Te Hapori have been visiting the Riverside Sports Club to learn about Futsal. We have had expert help from our coach Martin. We have had a great term and can't wait for pop tennis next term.

Spectrum Lawn mowing

This term William was lucky enough to be selected to take part in the Spectrum Care lawn mowing course. He has been learning about safety and how to use the equipment. Keep up the great learning William.

Barfoot and Thompson

Some of our students have been very busy out in the community delivering pamphlets for our local Barfoot and Thompson. They had to practice their literacy skills reading what letter boxes said "No circulars" and also road safety.

Te Hapori beautification project

Great work gentlemen. The young men have been working hard to make Te Hapori a beautiful bright place to work in. They have been cleaning and turning over the soil.

All the students have been practicing their sprints skills ready for Special Olympics on the 30th of March at Mt. Smart Stadium. Even te teachers are getting involved.

Pegasus Practice Day

Lawrence has been busy at M.I.T. on a photography course. He has been able to develop a picture and also edit the picture on a computer to change the colours. He thinks this makes it look really cool. Lawrence was nice and kind enough to bring some of his fantastic work to share at school. Keep up the great work Lawrence!

It was such an amazing night. So many new parents and families that came in to meet our staff. The students were fantastic and were great at showing all of their work and explaining things we have been doing so far this term.

Lawrence at M.I.T.

Lawrence has been attending a Photography course at M.I.T. he goes there once a week and is totally independent.  He has been doing great and we are all so proud of him.

The environment and water care

Some of the class decided it would be cool if we made a video about what we can do in our community to look after the environment especially the beach.
